class descriptions

Students are divided into two groups by ages (5–7 and 8–11) in all classes to support growth and meaningful engagement. Some electives naturally shift in focus and depth for each group, while others explore the same themes across ages, thoughtfully adapted to meet learners where they are.

Entrepreneurship (M)

Students explore what it takes to turn an idea into something real through creativity, simple budgeting, branding, marketing, and communication. Through hands-on activities and real-world examples, learners collaborate, make decisions, and shape their own mini business concepts.

This elective encourages curiosity, resilience, and practical problem-solving as students bring ideas to life.

litARTure (W)

Children explore art and literature through play and hands-on discovery in a colorful, creativity-rich studio atmosphere. From finger painting and sculpting clay to drawing, painting, and mixed media techniques, students express ideas both visually and verbally.

Our younger learners will engage in open-ended, sensory-rich projects that spark imagination, while older students refine artistic techniques and storytelling skills through more guided work. In this art-literacy experience, story and substance merge as art and words move together.

Music (M, TH)

Ages 5–7

Young musicians build a strong foundation as they learn basic music notation and explore instruments such as glockenspiels, boomwhackers, hand chimes, and drums. Through movement, rhythm games, and playful activities, students develop steady beat, pitch awareness, and early reading skills while making music together.

Ages 8–11

Older musicians deepen note reading and rhythmic skills while building ensemble confidence. Students may be introduced to recorder, ukulele, and hand chimes based on class readiness and interest. Classes emphasize collaboration, creativity, and expressive participation.

Science (TH)

Students explore the natural world through hands-on activities, observation, discussion, and guided discovery. Topics may include earth science, nature study, biology, simple chemistry, and basic physics presented in age-appropriate ways.

Through building, investigating, and sharing ideas, students practice thoughtful questioning and develop confidence as curious young scientists.

Spanish (M)

Ages 5–7

An engaging introduction to Spanish through storytelling, song and verse, games, and role-playing. Young learners build early vocabulary and listening skills while forming a joyful connection to language learning.

Ages 8–11

Students develop foundational language skills centered around vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. Through storytelling, song, games, role-playing, and introductory reading and writing, learners grow in confidence and practical communication skills.

STEM Games (W)

Ages 5–7

An interactive introduction to STEM through interactive games, building activities, and hands-on challenges. Young learners will explore patterns, problem-solving, and teamwork in a supportive environment that celebrates curiosity and effort.

Ages 8–11

Students will explore various STEM concepts through strategy-based games, collaborative challenges, and interactive problem-solving. In a supportive, low-pressure environment, learners are encouraged to think flexibly, approach challenges creatively, and grow in confidence.

Story Studio (TH)

Ages 5–7

A playful exploration of stories through engaging read-alouds inspired by high-quality children’s literature. Students notice characters, settings, and story sequence, responding through drawing, early writing, and hands-on activities that build confidence and curiosity.

Ages 8–11

Students dive deeper into literature through read-alouds, discussion, and creative response. As they explore character development, plot, and theme, learners articulate ideas through writing and projects while growing as thoughtful, confident readers and storytellers.

World Explorations (W)

Students journey around the world through geography skills, cultural discovery, and hands-on exploration. Together, we may “visit” different countries and regions, building map awareness while learning about traditions, daily life, food, and celebrations across cultures.

Through games, simple crafts, recipes, discussion, and introductory research activities, learners make meaningful connections and notice both similarities and differences around the globe. This class nurtures curiosity, global awareness, and appreciation for diverse communities while inviting students to see themselves as thoughtful, engaged explorers.
